With the changing retail environment of the eighties, Herman hired his son-in-law, Stephen Smith, as store manager to come in and make changes to the store’s merchandise assortment, increase sales and add services to an already well established business. Later in 1988, his son, David McClinton, joined with Stephen in the operation of the store. Together they have owned and operated the Western Auto Store since Herman retired in the early nineties. In the early 2000’s, the store took a new direction concentrating more on Lawn & Garden parts and service and Automotive repair.

In 2004, Western Auto corporate closed its operations. This is when David and Stephen decided to put their own names on the marquee, D-S Lawn & Automotive. As D-S Lawn and Automotive, we will continue to offer the same great service to our customers, just as the McClinton’s have done since 1970. We are proud to be from Tomball and operate our business in a small town environment. Even as the Tomball, Magnolia, Waller and The Woodlands areas continue to grow, we will always remember our small town roots and attitude of friendly customer service that brought us to where we are today. The name may have changed for a third time in thirty-five years, but we are still the same folks.
